Church, school and restaurant websites in Ghana: what to include (with prompts you can copy)

Churches, schools and restaurants are some of the busiest places in any Ghanaian town — and some of the most searched on Google. "Church near me", "best SHS in Kumasi", "restaurant open now in Osu": if you are not online, people find someone else.

This guide lists what each type of website should include, what to leave out, and a prompt you can copy into DWOMOH Build to create a first version today.

Church websites

A church website is a front door for visitors and a notice board for members.

Must have:

• Service times and location with a Google Maps link — the page people look for most.
• About us: your story, beliefs and your pastors, with photos.
• Events and programmes: conventions, crusades, youth and women's fellowship meetings.
• Sermons: links to your YouTube or Facebook live videos, and audio if you have it.
• Giving: how to pay tithes and offerings, including your MoMo number or an online giving button.
• Contact and prayer requests: a simple form and your phone/WhatsApp number.

Nice to have: a photo gallery, ministries and departments, a new members form, announcements.

School websites

Parents compare schools online before they visit. Your website should answer their questions before they call.

Must have:

• Admissions: requirements, forms, deadlines, fees (or how to ask for them) and a contact person.
• About the school: vision, history, curriculum (GES, Cambridge…), and results you are proud of.
• Facilities: classrooms, labs, library, boarding, transport — with real photos.
• News and events: open days, PTA meetings, sports and speech days.
• Contact: location, phone numbers, email and office hours.

Nice to have: a parent portal for reports and fees, an online admission form, a staff page, an academic calendar.

Restaurant websites

People decide where to eat in seconds. Your website should make them hungry and make ordering easy.

Must have:

• The menu with prices — as a real page, not a blurry photo of a paper menu.
• Opening hours and location with a map.
• Order and delivery: WhatsApp ordering, phone number, or online ordering with Mobile Money.
• Photos of your best dishes.
• Reservations for sit-down restaurants.

Nice to have: daily specials, catering and events, reviews from customers.

What to leave out (for all three)

• Autoplay music and videos — they slow the page and annoy visitors on mobile data.
• Old information. Expired events and last year's prices hurt your credibility. Update or remove them.
• Huge images. Most visitors are on a phone and mobile data; keep photos light.
• Pages with nothing on them ("coming soon").

Make it easy to find on Google

• Put your town and area in your page titles and text ("church in Adenta", "restaurant in East Legon").
• Create a free Google Business Profile and link it to your website.
• Ask members, parents and customers to leave Google reviews.
• Post news and events regularly — fresh pages get found.
