How to create a website in Ghana in 2026: step by step, on your phone, without coding

Published 5 min readHow toGhanaCreate a websiteSmall business

Many business owners in Ghana still believe a website is something only big companies can afford, or something that takes weeks. That is no longer true. Today you can create a proper website for your business in an afternoon, from your phone, without knowing how to code.

You need three things: a clear idea of what the site must do, a way to build it, and a web address. If customers will pay on the site, you also need a Mobile Money checkout. Below, we take you through it step by step, with what each step costs in 2026.

Step 1: Decide what the website must do

Take a sheet of paper, or your notes app, and write down:

  • Your business and where you are, for example "a hair salon in Kumasi", "a church in Tema" or "a phone accessories shop at Kejetia".
  • The pages you need: home, about, services or products, prices, gallery, contact.
  • What visitors should be able to do: call or WhatsApp you, book a time, order and pay, register for an event, or log in to check their results.
  • Your colours and style, and whether the site should be in English, French or both.

This list matters more than anything else. Whoever builds the site, whether you, an AI tool or a web designer, will need exactly this information.

Step 2: Choose how to build it

How you build itWhat it usually costs in GhanaHow long it takesBest for
Hire a web designerGH₵800 to GH₵4,500 for a business site; GH₵7,000 or more for an online shop1 to 4 weeksBig or unusual projects

The designer prices come from price lists Ghanaian agencies published in 2026. We break them down in how much a website costs in Ghana. To compare the AI tools side by side, read the best AI website builders in Ghana.

Step 3: Describe the site and let the AI build it

With an AI builder, you turn the list from step 1 into one or two sentences. On DWOMOH Build you sign up, type your description, and it writes the pages, the forms and, where you need them, customer logins and a database. It then opens every page in a real browser and fixes its own mistakes before showing you anything.

Here are some descriptions you can copy and change:

Step 4: Check it on your phone and ask for changes

Open the preview on your phone, because that is how most of your customers will see it. Then ask for changes in plain words:

  • "Make the buttons green and gold."
  • "Add a page with our prices."
  • "Put our location map on the contact page."

Each change takes a minute or two. On DWOMOH Build the first preview is free, and building the full working site starts with the Starter plan at GH₵150 a month.

Step 5: Let customers pay with Mobile Money

If you sell anything, you need a payment gateway. In Ghana, Paystack takes MTN MoMo, Telecel Cash, AirtelTigo Money and cards for 1.95% per payment, with no setup fee, and pays you the next working day. On DWOMOH Build you add your Paystack keys and the checkout becomes part of your site. We explain the whole process in how to accept Mobile Money on your website.

Step 6: Get your web address

There are two options:

  • An address on the builder, included in the plan, such as yourname.dwomohbuild.com on DWOMOH Build's Growth plan (GH₵300 a month, hosting included).
  • Your own address, such as mybakery.com or mybakery.com.gh. A .com costs about GH₵260 to register and GH₵370 a year to renew at HostAfrica Ghana, while the .com.gh registry lists GH¢590.65 a year (2026 prices). On DWOMOH Build's Pro plan (GH₵450 a month) you can buy your own address inside the app and connect it, registered in your name.

Whichever you choose, make sure the domain is registered in your own name and not the designer's.

Step 7: Put it online and get people to find it

  1. Publish it. On an AI builder, this is one button.
  2. Share the link everywhere: your WhatsApp Business profile and status, your Instagram and Facebook bio, your flyers and receipts.
  3. Create a free Google Business Profile with the link, so you show up on Google Maps.
  4. Add useful pages: prices, opening hours, what makes you different. Google, and AI assistants such as ChatGPT that read the web to answer people's questions, tend to point people to sites that answer customers' questions clearly.

Can I create a website for free?

You can start for free. DWOMOH Build's first preview costs nothing, and builders such as Wix and Google Sites have free plans that carry their own branding and address. But a proper business website, with your own address, no adverts and payments, costs money wherever you build it. On DWOMOH Build, budget GH₵300 a month (pay for a year and 2 months are free). With a designer, expect anything from a few hundred to a few thousand cedis upfront, plus the domain every year.

In summary

Write down what the site must do, describe it to an AI builder, check it on your phone, add MoMo payments if you sell, get a web address in your own name and share the link everywhere. Most small businesses in Ghana can do all of this today.
